One of the most fascinating people living in the world today, in my opinion, is Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and he resides in the small NoVA town of Fairfax Station (FFXS). This woodsy town has proven to be a haven for many retired government officials and military personnel.
Census-based demographics rank Fairfax Station #37 statewide for overall livability, with most residents employed in management and sales, mathematics and computer sciences, education and teaching. As with most of northern Virginia, residents here are among the nation’s highest achievers. Roughly 3/4th of FFXS’s population earned a 4-year college degree or better.
Considering it beneficial to reside outside the Beltway, commuters into DC would say “it's worth it”, preferring to live green (think: forests, trails, scenery, and acreage). If you move here, expect to see wildlife including fox, deer, and an occasional black bear.
The 888 acre Lake Burke Park and the forests contribute to FFXS's outdoorsy vibe.
All this translates into what could be described as “urbanite sophistication meets green acres”.
Larger lots and/or acreage offer a bit more privacy than other NoVA areas. Some neighborhoods are designated equestrian properties, complete with stables, riding arenas and pastures- such as 12007 Corral Drive in Fairfax Station, currently on the market.
If you prefer nature trails, woodland views, a little more privacy, and/or lakeside living, consider Fairfax Station.
